Acts 19:1-25
The power of Jesus’ name should not be overlooked. We see in our passage today the amazing way that people turned to Christ just because of the power of His name! These were demon possessed people and wiccans who took all of their old sorcery books and burned them! That is a serious turn around and life style change!Â
We also see that His name and His power can’t be used like a magic charm. No one can control or duplicate God’s power. We have to have a relationship with Jesus and be willing to let the Holy Spirit use us, then we will experience the power of God!
Tomorrow – Acts 19:25 – 20:6

Acts 18:1-28
Paul’s journey takes him to Corinth, where he ended up staying for a year and a half. At first he became frustrated (verse 6) and basically threw his hands and said “peace out!”, but God had other plans. In verses 9-11 God tells him to not be afraid and to speak out. God was with him, so what was there to worry about?Â
Even a great man of faith like Paul can get frustrated, but its how we react to those situations that makes us different. We have the God of the universe; the creator of everything on our side! No matter what the odds look like, they are always in our favor!

Acts 17:1-34
Paul and Silas continue traveling on their mission trip and they stop in a town called Thessalonica. It says that the people there listen to Paul and then studied the Scriptures to verify or even disprove the message that they heard.Â
How often do we compare the stuff that we hear to the Bible? Do we take the time to know what is true and what is not compared to the Bible?
Starting in verse 22, Paul gives a speech to the council that gets a bit of a mixed reaction. Some people made fun and shut him down, some it didn’t affect at all and other believed. When we tall people about Jesus and about the Good News it will sometimes get mixed reactions. But even having only a few come to Him is worth it!

Acts 16:1-40
Paul and Silas get arrested, beaten and thrown in a dungeon because of the jealously and greed of some of the people around them. Paul and Silas could have complained and whined and been completely justified, but they didn’t. They actually started praying and singing hymns to the Lord! The jailer and then his whole family ended up becoming believers.
When bad things happen do we grumble or do we praise Him anyway? You never know who might be listening? God might use your Christ like reaction to win someone to Him!
