Hyperlink Prep : Relationships Week 1

This Sunday we begin a new series on building healthy relationships. We will be going through the Old Testament book of Hosea. We’ll explore the story of Hosea’s marriage to an unfaithful woman, an illustration of the Israelites’ relationship with God. These real-life events have much to teach us about ourselves, our relationship with God, and our relationships with others. We’ll see the power of God’s unconditional love, and we’ll confront our tendency to stray from God. Let’s do a little prep work so you are ready to talk about it this Sunday.

• Do you think God would ever ask you to do something crazy or unexpected or unusual? Why or why not?

Read Hosea 1:2, 2:16-20, 3:1

• What’s the difference between conditional love and unconditional love?

• What happens in your life while you are disconnected from God? What effects does the separation have on your relationships, thought life, and decisions?

What do you have committed to memory? Songs? Phone numbers? This week in Hyperlink we are going to talk about Bible Memorization. Let’s get ready for this Sundays’ Hyperlink discussion group by asking a few questions:

If your house were burning down but you had time to run inside and grab one thing, what would you

choose, and why?

What are some good reasons for Christians to memorize Bible verses? What are some ways it might

help your spiritual life?

How have you used Scripture to battle temptation? What kinds of verses and topics have been most

helpful to you?

Hyperlink Prep : HABITS Week 2

This Sunday we continue our series on building wise HABITS. Last week we talked about Hanging out with God. This week we talk about hanging out with each other. Having friendships that keep us accountable are incredibly important things to have. So to prepare a little for this Sundays’ Hyperlink discussion group think about this:

How do you know when a team is unified and experiencing harmony?

What friend or friends are holding you accountable?

Read Psalm 133

Take a moment to silently answer these questions to yourself: What are some things in your life that you don’t want to share with other people, even your closest friends? What’s keeping you from opening up about these things? What “guarantee” would you need to be willing to tell a close friend about this issue? How can an accountable friendship help you take ownership of your personal faith?

UK Training Meeting Sunday 01.08.2012

Our next training meeting will be this coming Sunday, January 8 from 12noon to 3pm in Connect! Please note that this meeting is going until 3pm. We will need the extra hour for this one. You MUST have your $500 deposit, proof of Passport (or at least that it has been ordered and is being processed) and you must have attended ALL of the previous meetings. ALL training meetings are mandatory! See ya there!

UK 2012 MEETING

The first meeting for our UK 2012 Mission Trip will be THIS Sunday, September 18 from 12 noon to 1:00pm. YOU MUST ATTEND THIS MEETING TO GO ON THE TRIP! A parent or guardian must also attend this meeting with you. This meeting will be an overview of the trip, expectations and requirements to attend as well as, hopefully, answering any and all questions you may have.

Mission Akron Chick-fil-a Night! 05.23.2011

On May 23 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm we will be having a fund raising event at Chick-fil-a inside Belden Village Mall (the one in the food court of the actual mall). No need to bring a flyer or anything like that to support us. Just show up and eat anytime between 6:00pm and 8:00pm and a percentage of the proceeds will go towards supporting Mission Akron 2011!
